Graduate Programme

The ITI Switch Graduate Programme for Master’s and PhD students is designed to address global, regional, and local challenges related to water and urban sustainability. It offers an innovative, integrated training approach that emphasizes interdisciplinarity and the implementation of projects based on real-world cases.

The programme stands out for its innovative pedagogy and for the mentorship provided by a dynamic scientific community. Non-academic partners from both the public and private sectors, engaged in the ecological transition, are actively involved through the seven ITI Living Labs.


Launching Two New Master’s Programmes in September 2026 and 2027

EUCOR Master in Continental Water Sustainability (CWS)

Start: September 2026

The CWS Master’s programme leads to a double degree from the University of Strasbourg (Unistra) and the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT), co-accredited by ENGEES.

It offers aninterdisciplinary and intercultural training with a holistic approach to water challenges. In addition to technical engineering skills, students develop a deep understanding of socio-ecological issues, the needs of sustainability stakeholders, and their communication skills.

Erasmus Mundus Master in Sustainable Cities (SuCi)

Start: September 2027

The SuCi Master’s programme is an Erasmus Mundus project run in collaboration with Addis Ababa University (Ethiopia), Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (Germany), Technische Hochschule Ostwestfalen-Lippe (Germany), University of Ghana, and Université Hassan II de Casablanca (Morocco).

It trains future professionals to tackle cross-cutting issues such as air and climate, soil, and biodiversity, providing a broad, interdisciplinary perspective on urban sustainability.

Learning by Doing: Research in Action

Hackathon

An annual hackathon, open to Master’s students and early-career researchers, provides the opportunity to work in teams on real-world challenges linked to the Living Labs. Participants present their solutions to experienced researchers and key stakeholders from civil society.

Seminars

Throughout the year, seminars specifically designed for students and early-career researchers are open to the entire ITI Switch community, fostering exchange, learning, and collaboration.

Introducing a New Module for PhD Students – September 2027

Doctoral Training

First phase of implementation: September 2027

A doctoral training course specifically developed by the ITI Switch community will be open to all PhD students at the University of Strasbourg starting September 2027. The course focuses on “Sustainable societal transformations and the impact of our research practices”.
